Many of our new clients ask us if they should be blogging on their chiropractic website. Is a blog something that makes a difference? Does it help you get new patients?
The answer is: yes! A chiropractic blog is an important part of your online marketing strategy for six reasons.
1. Improve Your Search Ranking
Google loves fresh content. Google likes to see that a site is active, and it likes to provide relevant content to searchers. You can help Google out by creating new blog content on your site that explains the work that you do. When Google is determining where to rank your chiropractic website, it’s going to give priority to a site with new content.
With regular blogging, you can target keywords of the types of patients you want to attract to your office.
2. Capture the Long-Tail
You can never really predict what your patients are going to search for online, and your blog content makes it more likely that someone will find your site when searching. For instance, if a patient searches for “natural back pain treatment in Noblesville Indiana,” and you have a blog post on that topic, you’re going to be #1 in Google...a highly coveted position.
Most people click on the first relevant search result, so that’s where you need to be.
3. Educate Your Potential Patients
The best patients are those who take an active role in their health, and that starts when they’re looking for a doctor. By having good content on your site about your practice and how you can help, you’ll find many patients will spend quite a bit of time on your site learning about their condition. This is much more effective than just having a bare-bones site with no blog. Videos are also a perfect tool for patient education.
4. Easy Social Media Content
Social media is another critical part of a successful online marketing strategy, and blog posts are the perfect content to share on social media. Your new blog posts will show up on your patients’ Facebook feeds, and those patients will share that content with their friends and family when they find something that resonates. If Martha’s Aunt Jane has been suffering from sciatica, and you have a new blog post on sciatica that Martha sees on Facebook, it’s easy for her to share that with her aunt. Referrals are the best source of new patients, and social media is the perfect tool for referrals.
5. Drive Traffic to Your Website
By blogging regularly and sharing that content on social media, you’re going to exponentially boost your online exposure, making it more likely that patients will find you and visit your website. Once they’ve reached your site, it’s easy for them to pick up the phone and make an appointment.
6. Make It Personal
One of the great things about blogging is that it gives you the chance to show your personality and the culture of your office. If you have a hobby, you can write about that. You can write about office events and share some pictures of your staff. Chiropractic is inherently a personal service, so make your blog personal, too.
